Terms of Use
Last updated: 2026-07-18
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Becoming Canadian app (“the app”), developed and operated by Oleksandr Zarochintsev (“we”, “us”). By downloading or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
The app is also subject to Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (“Apple Standard EULA”). Where these Terms and the Apple Standard EULA both apply, both are in effect; these Terms add app-specific detail.
An independent study aid
Becoming Canadian is an independent study aid. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Government of Canada, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), or any government body. Every question and explanation is written in original wording.
The app is provided for study and practice only. It is not legal or immigration advice, and it does not guarantee that you will pass the official citizenship test or any government examination. Always rely on official Government of Canada materials and a qualified professional for decisions about your citizenship application.
Who can use the app
The app is intended for people aged 13 and over. It is a study aid for the Canadian citizenship test and is not directed to children. If you are under the age of majority where you live, please read these Terms with a parent or guardian, and do not make a purchase without their permission.
License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, in accordance with the Apple Standard EULA and these Terms. You may not copy, redistribute, reverse-engineer, or resell the app or its content except as permitted by law.
Intellectual property
The app and its content — including the questions, explanations, study-guide material, other text, design, and logo — are owned by us and protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws. The license above does not transfer any ownership to you. Names and materials referred to only for description or identification — for example, Government of Canada materials, or platform names such as Apple and Google Play — remain the property of their respective owners, and our use of them does not imply any affiliation or endorsement.
Purchases and subscriptions
The app is free to download and includes optional in-app purchases that unlock premium features:
- Auto-renewing subscriptions — weekly, monthly, and yearly plans that renew automatically until cancelled.
Prices are shown in the app before you confirm any purchase and are charged to your Apple Account. Premium purchases are eligible for Family Sharing, so an eligible purchase can be shared with members of your Family Sharing group, subject to Apple’s rules.
Auto-renewal and cancellation
Auto-renewing subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends, at the price for your selected plan.
You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in your device’s Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions (or App Store → Account → Subscriptions). Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep premium access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Billing, payment, and refunds are handled by Apple under the terms of your Apple Account and the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. We do not process payments and cannot issue refunds directly. Refund requests are made to Apple at https://reportaproblem.apple.com.
Content accuracy
While we strive to keep the educational content accurate and up to date, we do not warrant that it is completely error-free. If you spot a mistake, please let us know (see Contact) so we can correct it.
Disclaimer of warranties
The app is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will improve your test results.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, in no event will we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising from your use of or inability to use the app.
Privacy
Your use of the app is also governed by our Privacy Policy. It explains that your study progress stays on your device, and describes the optional crash diagnostics and usage analytics the app can send to Google Firebase — both off unless you turn them on, and withdrawable at any time — including the pseudonymous per-install identifiers and IP-derived coarse location involved, which may be personal data under applicable privacy law even though we do not know your identity.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the Last updated date above. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Resolving disputes
If you have a concern or dispute about the app, please contact us first (see Contact) so we can try to resolve it informally — most issues can be handled quickly this way. We ask that you give us a reasonable opportunity (at least 30 days from when you contact us) to resolve a dispute before starting formal proceedings. We do not require you to arbitrate disputes or to give up any consumer-protection rights you have under the law of your province or territory of residence.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Canada and the province of British Columbia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
